Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary- The Mudumalai Wildlife sanctuary is a continuation of the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka and is separated by the Moyar River. This wildlife reserve is the first in South India.
Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park-
This destination is located in Coimbatore. Some of the popular fauna here are the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Langur, elephants, Ceylon Frogmouth and so on.
Mukkurthi National Park- This national park is in the folds of the Nilgiris and is easily accessible from Ooty. Some of the popular fauna that you could find here include Nilgiri Thar (Hamitragus-hilocrius), Sambhar, Barking deer, Nilgiri marten and otter, Jungle cat, Jackal.
Kalakkadu Wildlife Sanctuary- This sanctuary is in Tirunelveli district. It is a Tiger Reserve and also a part of one of the world's 18 biodiversity hotspots. |

Point Calimere Wild Life Sanctuary – This wildlife sanctuary is located in Nagapattinam. The important inhabitants here are flamingos, grey pelican, sandpiper, spoonbill, Asian dowitcher, herons, gulls, teals, shanks, plovers and many others.
Arignar Anns Zoological Park- This Zoological Park is also called the Vandalur Zoo which s easily accessible from Chennai. The inhabitants include Tiger, Hyena, Panther, Jackal, Sangai , Hog Deer and so on.
Vedanthangal- The Vedanthangal Bird sanctuary is easily accessible from Chennai. You could see some of the rarest birds here. Here , you could find such birds like Cormorants, Darters, Herons, Egrets, Open billed Stork, Spoonbill and White Ibis, Little Grebe, Indian Moorhen, Black Winged Stilts.
